A 23-year-old woman and a baby plunged from an apartment in New York City on Tuesday, leaving the woman dead and the baby in critical condition.
A spokesperson for the NYPD said the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning at 2550 Olinville Avenue in the Bronx.
The spokesperson said that upon arrival, the woman and baby had “injuries indicative of falling from an elevated position.”
The mother, who police did not identify, and her baby were transported to a nearby hospital. The 23-year-old died from her injuries while the baby — who is under 1-year-old and a girl, according to police sources — remains in critical condition.
There are no arrests at this time, according to the spokesperson, and the investigation remains ongoing.
It is not yet clear whether the mother-daughter pair fell, jumped or were pushed out of the apartment building.
However, NYPD detectives are looking to question the ex-boyfriend of the 23-year-old-woman, according to police sources. The sources did not name the man they are looking for.
Witnesses reported hearing a disturbance in the woman’s apartment before she fell to her death, according to the sources.
Police sources said there is a history of domestic violence at the woman’s address.
It is unclear how high the woman and the baby were before they plunged to the ground below.
