The San Francisco 49ers avoided the worst with star fullback Kule Juszczyk’s knee injury.
Juszczyk hyperextended his right knee when being tackled by a Denver Broncos defender during San Francisco’s 24-14 win on Sunday. The 35-year-old was down for several moments before being helped off the field by members of the training staff.
Any time a knee injury occurs, the fear is that it’s a torn ACL. But the team announced on Monday that Juszczyk didn’t suffer any ACL damage, instead having a knee sprain and a bone bruise that will only keep him sidelined for several weeks.
This positive update opened the door for Juszczyk’s wife, Kristin, to troll him about lesser injuries he sustained during Sunday’s game.
She did so with an Instagram post on Monday that showed a close-up photo of Juszczyk’s bruised and battered face. The post was captioned, “That boy has some strong ligaments 💪🏼 / When he got home I said…so have you looked in the mirror yet”.
Juszczyk plays one of the most physical positions in football, and bears the battle scars of this physicality on his face.
He’ll get a few weeks to heal both these scars and his injured knee before returning to the field, perhaps before the end of October.
