The Philadelphia 76ers seriously upgraded their starting lineup with the additions of four-time NBA MVP LeBron James and 2024 NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown.
James has racked up four championships during his career. Brown has won once with his former team, the Boston Celtics, whom he guided to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference amid Jayson Tatum's recovery from a brutal injury last season.
For a portion of the season, Brown was among the players discussed as potential MVP contenders due to his strong role in guiding the Celtics during what some thought would be a tough season.
With the new season two months away, the new NBA 2K27 video game will drop next month. They've revealed all of the player ratings for the new game and four 76ers including Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Brown, and James landed in the top 20.

However, they were just within the top 20, with Embiid, Brown, and James all receiving a 91 rating, and Maxey getting a 92 rating. Jaylen Brown seemingly took exception to his rating in a new video from Bleacher Report.
Someone off-camera showed him a phone with a hidden player's ratings for the game and asked if he knew who it was. He guessed it was probably him, but questioned the ratings.
"I mean, mid-range kind of gives it away. I would say this is me, but the mid-range is probably a little low. I'm a mid-range spammer. I feel offended," he said in the video clip. "My passing should've been a lot better."
"93 last year. So how did I go down?" Brown said when he realized what his rating was in last year's game compared to the 91 he got in 2K27.
Brown's attribute ratings include a 94 for driving dunk and 90 for mid-range shooting. He also has an 86 for ball handling, 85 for athleticism. NBA 2K27 gave him a surprising 79 for playmaking and 74 for defense.
Last season, Brown averaged 28.7 points per game with 47.7% field goal shooting. He also had 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and one steal per game in a standout season with the Celtics.
That earned him a fifth All-Star Game appearance and a spot on the All-NBA Second Team, with some contending he should've been on the first team. It's hard to argue against his standout 2025-26 season, so it's quite surprising to see his rating dip by two points overall for the upcoming game.
It's worth noting that the 76ers have one of the best backcourts in the 2K27 game and in the NBA with the duo of Brown and Maxey. One could argue that the Minnesota Timberwolves, who paired former Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball with Anthony Edwards this offseason, are right up there too.
