The Commanders will officially be without their starting quarterback Sunday.

Jayden Daniels has officially been ruled out of the Week 4 game against the Colts in London, marking his second straight missed game due to a dislocated left elbow.

Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the news in his press conference Friday.

“We’ll assess where we are next week when he gets a full week of practice all the way through,” Quinn said. “But typical for him, working incredibly hard to get back, doing everything that he can behind the scenes to go do that as fast as he can. He is a true competitor on and off the field.”

Marcus Mariota will make his second consecutive start, with Washington hoping Daniels will be able to return sooner rather than later.

In Washington’s Week 3 upset win over the Seahawks, Mariota went 19 of 31 for 183 yards with three touchdowns.

Daniels was limited in practice this week, taking drills with a brace on his left arm, but said he has no issues with basic quarterback movements with his left arm, including taking snaps and handing off.

The former LSU star said the brace prevents him from fully extending his arm.

The Week 2 injury marked the second time in a calendar year Daniels dislocated his elbow.

He missed four games last season after injuring it in Week 9 before the injury flared up again once he returned, and the Commanders shut Daniels down for the remainder of the season.

This time around, Daniels does not fear what might happen if he aggravates his injury upon returning.

“If I had that concern, then I would’ve got surgery,” Daniels said.
