Jamie Foxx says he was having conflicting emotions about having a baby at 58 ... until a Hollywood icon who's going through fatherhood all over again as an octogenarian told him it's all good.

It's funny, Jamie says his old buddy Al Pacino actually made him feel better about having another child later on in life.

Jamie told E! News he was "on the fence" about having a baby at his age ... until he bumped into Al, who is raising a toddler at 86 ... and their hilarious interaction put him at ease.

TMZ broke the story ... Jamie's girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp is pregnant ... and she's several months along.

Ya gotta hear Jamie tell the story ... he does a great Pacino impression ... but basically, they joked they'll see each other in the school drop-off line.

Jamie and Alyce were first linked in August 2022 when she attended the world premiere of his movie "Day Shift" ... and things started to really heat up in the summer of 2023, when we saw them at the Nobu Hotel in Los Cabos, Mexico.

This will be Jamie's third kid. He first became a father way back in 1994 when his ex, Connie Kline, gave birth to their daughter, Corinne.
