Omega marked Oct. 5, James Bond Day, by launching its new James Bond and Spectre watch collection and hosting a preview of the company’s 007 exhibition at its boutique at The Americana at Brand mall in Glendale on Tuesday night.
The exhibition features props from various Bond movies, including the secret agent’s British passport from 2015’s “Spectre,” his toothbrush from “No Time to Die” (2021) and casino chips from “Casino Royale” (2006), among many other things.
In a separate room, archival Omega James Bond watches were on display as were the new Bond and Spectre Seamaster Diver 300M pieces. There are six new watches. Three bear the James Bond symbol and the other three with the symbol of Spectre, 007’s enemy criminal syndicate headed by the white Persian cat-loving Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
While the well-groomed guests — including actor Zane Phillips and a gaggle of models, influencers, creative directors, stylists and members of the press — oohed and aahed over the timepieces, the real main topic of conversation was the casting of the next James Bond.
“Do you think they’ll announce the new James Bond tonight?” more than one guest was heard asking at the exhibition and during a dinner later on hosted by Omega CEO Raynald Aeschlimann at the Sunset Tower Hotel.
“I hope they go with a newcomer,” was another frequent statement.
Reasons why actors Jacob Elordi and Callum Turner were right or not so right for the part were debated.
“I was really hoping it would be Idris Elba,” one guest declared.
More than a handful believed it will be Jack Lowden, especially after his “Slow Horses” co-star Gary Oldman made headlines in early September when he claimed in an interview that the next Bond had been picked. Oldman later clarified that he had no insight into the casting process and was just expressing hope that Lowden was going to get the job.
Whoever does get the gig, one thing is for sure — he’ll be donning Omega watches. The company has been the official timepiece for the Bond franchise since 1995.

The exhibition runs through Nov. 5.
