Indianapolis Colts second-year tight end Tyler Warren left practice on Wednesday with an apparent groin injury, and the team now knows how long he will be sidelined for.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Warren is only expected to miss about a week with a minor groin injury and should be good to go by Week 1.
All in all, it is great news after Warren had walked off the field with a noticeable limp, accompanied by trainers. He later returned to the sideline, still in uniform but without a helmet.
However, it looks like the Colts were able to dodge a huge bullet with the opportunity to get their rising star tight end back by the start of the season.
Warren had a very impressive rookie campaign, during which he reeled in 76 catches for 817 yards and four touchdowns, earning Pro-Bowl honors. He also rushed for one touchdown as a ball carrier in goal-line scenarios.

The Colts are also breathing a sigh of relief on the injury front since wide receiver Alec Pierce continues to recover from his offseason ankle surgery.
The Colts kick off their regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 13.
The No. 14 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Warren played college football at Penn State, where he had 153 catches for 1,839 yards and 19 touchdowns from 2021-24 and won the John Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end.
