The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing back a familiar face on their defense.
The team announced on Wednesday that it has signed free agent linebacker Cam Jones and waived defensive end Anthony Dunn in a corresponding move.
Jones, 26, began his professional career as an undrafted free agent out of the 2023 NFL Draft. He signed with the Chiefs and made their final roster, playing in all 17 games and recording 17 total tackles on the way to becoming a Super Bowl LVIII champion.
He played in all 17 games again the following season, racking up another 19 tackles, but Kansas City waived him before the 2025 season.
The New York Jets then claimed Jones off waivers, however, he was placed on injured reserve not long after due to a hip injury suffered in Week 6. Jones was able to return, though, finishing the season with five tackles.
Jones had signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants this offseason, but the team waived him a few months later, opening the door for his reunion with the Chiefs.

It won't be easy for Jones to make the Chiefs 53-man roster this time around, though. He is joining a crowded linebacker room that already includes Drue Tranquill, Nick Bolton, Cole Christiansen and Jack Cochrane, among others.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Jones played college football at Indiana, where he recorded 207 tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles, nine passes defensed, two interceptions and one touchdown from 2018-22.
