Talk about a foot fetish.
Alexander Skarsgård is well known for his fashion fearlessness, and his latest promotional tour is already kicking off with a bang.
The actor, 50, hit the “Wicker” premiere red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival Thursday in an eye-catching all-gold Saint Laurent suit and some freaky footwear.
While his shirtless gilded suit would’ve been the star of the show on any other carpet, it was the totally clear, plastic shoes, also by Saint Laurent, that divided fans.
The kinky kicks first made waves when they debuted on the runway in June, with Skarsgård the first man to bravely bare his toes in the style.
Fans were divided, with some lauding the leading man for his fortitude. Others questioned his sanity.
“He can pull off whatever,” one fan said while another declared, “He can wear ANYTHING.”
Others said, “New ick unlocked 🤢.” Former “Summer House” star Paige DeSorbo wasn’t into it. “We must draw the line somewhere,” she said.
More agreed that the Swede is begging for response, good or bad, to his sartorial choices. “Alex likes to get reactions,” one said while another wrote, “I swear hes screwing with us. He will wear anything.”
This is hardly Skarsgård’s first foray into the avant-garde. For “Pillion,” in which he played a leather daddy, he wore all manner of garb including leather pants, short shorts, delicate sequined tops and more.
And, in 2025, he was one of multiple Hollywood leading men who took a turn in a different pair of Saint Laurent shoes: thigh-high leather boots.
Saint Laurent ambassador Connor Storrie recently sweat it out at the same runway where Skarsgård’s shoes were first shown, modeling a PVC trench coat and over-the-knee vinyl boots from the brand — on Paris’ hottest day ever, no less.
The “True Blood” actor appeared to be keeping cool in London during fairer weather, though fans were concerned about the potential for sweat and condensation build up.
“You wouldn’t even be able to see my toes, it would be so steamy,” quipped a netizen while another wrote, “Oh my God, those shoes must stink between plastic and sweat.”
Skarsgård stars as a magical man made of wicker who marries a fisherwoman (Olivia Coleman) in the steamy and hilarious film, which hits theaters on Oct. 23.
